Private pay protects you at times from arbitrary restrictions of insurance companies, such as limiting the frequency, duration, and types of therapy, and even assessments administered for diagnosis that one can provide. Additionally, insurances will not cover psychoeducational evaluations, as they are not considered medically necessary. Insurance companies may also choose not to reimburse for ADHD evaluations. For individuals and families looking to submit for possible reimbursement, she offers "superbills" (a detailed invoice) provided at the end of the evaluation or once a month (for therapy cases).
